No prior training is needed, just show up willing to learn from the onsite Core Volunteer!
Safe Space Winter Shelter operates with the support of nearly 350 amazing volunteers per season, who are at the core of why our low-barrier shelter works. We employ a rotating facility model, where our hosts generously lend their facilities to us for one or two weeks per season, collaborating with us to ensure shelter is provided for those in need.
Intake Crew
Register guests and process personal property for storage
Evening Crew
Shelter set up, distribute bedding, and help settle guests into the shelter as they arrive
Morning Crew
Help guests wake up and get moving for morning transportation, property returns, etc.
Laundry Crew
Every Sunday help our team wash pillows, blankets and sheets for the upcoming week
Meal Provider
Every night, Safe Space Winter Shelter provides a warm meal to our guests, plus a to-go breakfast bag to start their morning right. This is perfect for friends, workplaces, Bingo Buddies, or church groups — who want to make a meaningful difference by preparing and serving meals to our shelter guests.
Move Out Crew
Every 2 weeks help us load up and clean the previous location and also help us unpack and set up at our new space.
